The Guinness Book of Record is something that we all have been fond of since our childhood, you get to see the weirdest, wildest and coolest things in this book. We’ve all reached out for this book at least once in our life and wouldn’t mind picking it up again to kill some time in a good way. This amazing book was founded in London, and the very first 198-page edition was published in August 1955. Yes, The Guinness Book of Records is just that old!

And that year itself it blew up and was the bestseller in Britain. The following year, it was launched in the US and it sold 70,000 copies. It had now been 65 years since it was first published. Let’s list the weirdest Guinness Records.

1. The most Stretchy Skin

Garry Turner, a British man has a rare medical condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome due to which he can stretch his stomach skin to 6.25 inches. This is a connective-tissue disorder due to which the collagen becomes faulty, and the side effects include, the loosening of the skin and hyper-mobile joints.

He told the Guinness World Records, “I have always known that my skin was different — as a small child my uncles used to have fun showing their friends, Stretching doesn’t hurt at all. However, other aspects of the syndrome are very painful, [like my] joints.”

2. The most piercings ever

Elaine Davidson, Brazilian, got her very first piercing in January 1997 and she didn’t stop ever since. She used to own a restaurant and now she has been pieced for a total of 4,225 times, back in 2006. The Guinness World Records website says that she keeps adding new jewelry, mainly on her face, she also loves adding tattoos, makeup, and even feathers to her hair.

3. Longest Distance Keeping a Table Lifted With Teeth

Georges Christen who is from Luxembourg ran a length of 38 feet and 8 inches while he was carrying a 26-pound table — and top it off a 110-pound woman was sitting on it as well! — by his mouth, this happened in Madrid, Spain, on February 9, 2008. Talk about strong teeth!

4. Longest Metal Coil Passed Through the Nose and Out of the Mouth

Creepy, I know but this is very much real. Andrew Stanton, a performer from Las Vegas, ended up passing Metal Coil Passed Through the Nose and Out of the Mouth with a length of 11 feet, 10.91 inches in March 2012.

5. Longest Moustache

Ram Singh Chauhan’s mustache is the longest in the world, which stands at 14 feet. His facial hair was measured in Rome, Italy, on March 4, 2010.

6. Largest Collection of Rubber Ducks

Charlotte Lee from the US has around 5,631 different rubber ducks, as recorded in 2011, she has been collecting since 1996. You can see how much she loves these rubber ducks.

7. Largest Collection of Garden Gnomes and Pixie

Ann Atkin, From England, has a “Gnome Reserve” of four acres, She has 2,042 gnomes and pixies, as of March 2011.

8. Largest Hairy Family

A family of 4, the Gomez family, spanning five generations in Mexico, all of them suffer from a rare condition that’s called congenital generalized hypertrichosis. In this condition, you have excess facial hair and torso hair. Women have a lighter coat of hair while men have thick hair on 98% of their bodies. Larry and Danny perform in a Mexican Circus. Scientists are studying the entire family to figure out the genetic cause of CGH.

9. Longest Kiss Ever

Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat, the couple, from Thailand, for them love has crossed another level — setting the record of a kiss at 58 hours, 35 minutes, and 58 seconds. They won at a Ripley’s Believe it or Not event on February 12-14, 2013. They got a cash prize and even two diamond rings!

10. Most toothpicks held in a single beard

The world record for most toothpicks in a beard is 3,500, and this feat was achieved, on 7 July 2018, by Joel Strasser from Washington, USA. It took Joel 3 hours and 13 minutes to successfully put all 3,500 toothpicks in his beard. Before Joel, this record was held by Jeff Langum who had managed to fit 3,157 toothpicks in his beard.

11. Farthest arrow shot using feet

The farthest arrow shot using the feet is held by Brittany Walsh from USA. Brittany shot the arrow 12.31 m (40 ft 4.64 in) far at Portland, USA in March 2018. She is a acrobatic archer and a hand balancing artist and performs at circus and theater. She has been competing in gymnastics and performing in circus since 2005.

Did you know that the Guinness book of world records was created to serve as a reference book for settling pub arguments? This was thought to be a great way to promote Guinness Brewery products in pubs. The first edition was published for 50,000 copies in Aug 1995 and by December 1995 it became one of the bestselling books in the UK.
