8 New Videos that tell you what’s coming up in Mirzapur2.
Mirzapur2 is one of the most anxiously awaited Season 2 of any Indian web series and I’d say it rightly deserves to be. Starting with a tight script, strong screenplay, solid direction, robust cast, awesome acting and dialogues that became meme templates, Mirzapur has every masala in it to get such love from the Indian audience.
Mirzapur 2 is slated to be released on 23rd Oct 2020 and as the date is approaching Prime Videos has released trailers and mini videos to generate even more curiosity amongst the fan about what Season 2 is going to be like. Enjoy these videos and our analysis of the same!
The Trailer
We predicted in our previous post ( Mirzapur2: #ms2w, Facts, Trivia and what to expect! ) that Mirzapur 2 won’t just be about a war for revenge between Guddu-Golu and Kaleen Bhaiya but it would be a war for controlling Mirzapur between various parties involved. The trailer indicates the same.
Prime Videos has outdone itself in creating a hype around Mirzapur season 2 by releasing individual videos for each important character and we just can’t stop loving them. Here we go
Akhandanand Tripathi AKA Kaleen Bhaiya
Kaleen Bhaiya seems to be as composed in season2 as he was in Season 1, however, his stress about maintaining his control over Mirzapur is quite apparent in the trailer. He will be seen relying more on Munna and also ready to go to any extent to save his “Samrajya” of Mirzapur whether it is violence or politics.
Munna Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit & Golu Gupta
After his epic “Kaand” in the last episode of Season 1, Munna Tripathi will be seen in a much more confident avatar in Season 2. He will be raring to go all the way to establish himself as the new ‘King’ of Mirzapur while trying to nullify the threat from Guddu-Golu and the Shuklas. Although it appears that for quite some time Munna won’t be able to recognize Guddu and Golu as a threat, giving them time to prepare to wage a war on the Tripathis.
In the first episode the trio of Guddu, Golu and Dimpy will be in the hiding and Guddu will use the time to recuperate and gain his strength while training Golu to fight. They will also try to garner support from all the quarters including Golu’s father SP Parshuram Gupta and Lala (the opium supplier to Kaleen Bhaiya, who’s daughter’s wedding was rioted by Munna)
Sharad Shukla & Vijay Verma
The character of Sharad Shukla (portrayed by Anjum Sharma), son of don Rati Shankar Shukla was introduced in the last episode of season 2 in preparation for season 2 as another claimant of the throne of Mirzapur. The trailer shows Meghna Malik playing the role of his mother and prompting him to go for total control of Mirzapur in order to avenge his father.
Vijay Verma’s character’s name hasn’t been revealed yet but he’s been shown as a younger sibling or cousin of another don Dadda Tyagi (played by M.M. Faruqui AKA Lilliput) from Patna, Bihar. It seems that Vijay’s character is going to be one of the strongest characters in this multi-gang rivalry for control of Mirzapur. His dialogue in the above video sums up the maverick character he’s going to essay.
Dimpy Pandit & SSP Ram Sharan Maurya
The trailer and the video below show that a rather peaceful Dimpy (Harshita Gaur) who was mostly on the sidelines as the cute little sister of the Pandit brothers is going to play a much more active (and violent) role in the new season. However, in my opinion, the knife yielding Dimpy will not confront the Tripathi’s directly like Guddu and Golu but would try to cause harm to the Tripathis in more subtle ways.
SSP Maurya’s character was shown as a strong honest Sr. Superintendent of Police but he wasn’t very effective in making a dent in the kingdom of Kaleen Bhaiya in season 1. It appears from the video that unlike season 1 where he was seen playing by the rules, Amit Sial’s character is going to be innovative and will use loopholes in the law to bring order to the
Beena Tripathi
While no video has been circulated for Beena’s character (essayed by Rasika Duggal), she appears in the trailer indicating that she has accepted her incestuous relationship with her father-in-law Satyanand Tripathi or it might just be her way to survive in the highly violent household. It is my guess that she would also try to destabilize the Tripathi’s internally to satisfy her ego and to get out of the claws of Satyanand Tripathi.
Bonus: The Mystery Character
There is something that Prime Videos is not telling the fans yet – A mystery character. None of the teasers, trailers and other videos and posters released by Prime Videos so far talk any Priyanshu Painyuli’s much-hyped character. The tweet below confirms that Priyanshu is a part of the cast of Season 2 and will be one of the contenders for the throne of Mirzapur.
Priyanshu’s role has been kept under wrap so far. For those who don’t recognize his name, he has been making waves for his role, of a Bangladeshi crime lord, in the recent movie Extraction also starring Chris Hemsworth (Thor fame).
