Actors Who Faded into Oblivion
Bollywood is a sea of talent that finds new faces every other day. Thousands of people move to Mumbai every day with just one dream of becoming a star. Some are lucky that they make it to the top, others struggle really hard but don’t get that chance. On the other hand, some with amazing talent, good looks and the right opportunity disappear from the silver screen after their grand debut.
Have a look at this list of Bollywood stars who have vanished from the industry despite a great debut and/or after appearing in multiple films.
1. Rahul Roy
Rahul Roy began his acting career with Aashiqui in 1990. After his huge hit in Aashiqui Rahul Roy did not appear in many movies. He came out of his hibernation when he appeared on the television program Bigg Boss in 2006.
2. Kumar Gaurav
Kumar Gaurav, (son of late actor Rajendra Kumar) made his Bollywood debut in ‘Love Story‘ in 1981, which was an instant hit. However, he disappeared from the industry after a few flop movies.
He was last seen in the movie ‘Kaante’ (2002) and hasn’t been active in the film industry after that. He started his own business of travel.
3. Adhyayan Suman
Adhyayan Suman (son of actor Shekhar Suman) began his acting career with Haal–e–dil in 2008, which didn’t work well. He has done few movies like Jashnn, Dehraadun Diary, Himmatwala, Heartless, and few others but none of them made it to the hit list. His last movie was ‘Ishq Click’ (2016).
4. Harman Baweja
Harman Baweja (son of film director Harry Baweja and producer Pammi Baweja) began his acting career with Love Story 2050 in 2008, which turned flop in the box office. He vanished from the Film industry after one-two more flop movies.
After a 5 year long absence he acted in Dishkiyaaon (2014) only to disappear again after 6 years in Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship (2020). We are not sure if we are going to see him again for the next 5 years.
5. Fardeen Khan
Fardeen Khan (son of late actor Feroz Khan) debuted in the year 1998 in the film Prem Aggan. Fardeen Khan did many movies in his acting career such as Jungle, Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, Om Jai Jagadish, No Entry, Heyy Babyy, All the Best: Fun Begins and many more.
Fardeen Khan vanished from the big screen to focus on his family. Fardeen Khan was last seen in the movie Dulha Mil Gaya (2010) failed badly at the box office.
6. Twinkle Khanna
Twinkle Khanna (daughter of veteran Hindi film actors Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna) is an author, columnist, interior designer, film producer and Bollywood actress. Twinkle Khanna debuted in the year 1995 in the film Barsaat.
Twinkle Khanna did many movies in her acting career such as Jaan, Baadshah, Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan, Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega and many more. Twinkle Khanna won many Filmfare awards.
She left the industry after her marriage to Akshay Kumar and ventured into interior designing and is the co-owner of The White Window (interior designing stores).
7. Zayed Khan
Zayed Khan (son of actor Sanjay Khan) began his career in Bollywood with film Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne in 2003. He has appeared in films like Blue, Vaada, Shabd, Dus, Shaadi no. 1 and few others but none of these could save his career in the Bollywood industry.
8. Mamta Kulkarni
Mamta Kulkarni debuted in the year 1992 in the film Tirangaa. She suddenly disappeared from Bollywood and India as well in 2001 when she was on the verge of success. Kulkarni was arrested along with her husband Vicky Goswami in Saudi Arabia for the possession of drugs.
In 2016, Thane police seized a huge amount of drugs worth Rs. 2000 crores rupees from a factory in Solapur. Vicky Goswami was the prime suspect and police also suspected Mamta Kulkarni to be a conspirator. In 2017, the court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Mamta.
9. Preity Zinta
Preity Zinta debuted in the year 1998 in the film Dil Se. She did many blockbusters movies in her acting career such as Dil Chahta Hai, Koi mil Gaya, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Salaam Namaste, Veer-Zaara and many more.
Preity Zinta later turned into an entrepreneur and now is the co-owner of the cricket team King XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League. She has been a successful businesswoman.
10. Pooja Bhatt
Pooja Bhatt is a director, actress, voice-over artist, model and filmmaker. She made her Bollywood debut in the year 1989 in the film Daddy. Pooja had several hit Bollywood movies under her belt throughout the 90s such as Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sadak, Chaahat, Zakhm, Tamanna.
However, from the pinnacle of her career, she disappeared from the industry without a trace.
