Tabu Stars as a Spy in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Secret Agent Trailer: Watch Now

Vishal Bharadwaj’s new movie, “Khufiya,” just released its trailer on Netflix. The film is adapted from the book “Escape to Nowhere,” authored by the former Chief of the Counter Espionage Unit of R&AW, Amar Bhushan. It features a stellar cast including Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Azmeri Haque Badhon, promising an exciting and suspenseful experience for viewers.

The trailer starts in 2004 at the R&AW headquarters in Delhi, where they suspect there might be a leak of sensitive information. An insider mentions, “We have a mole in the agency.” Tabu, portraying RAW agent Krishna Menon, takes on the task of uncovering the mole’s identity. Suspicion falls on Dev, played by Ali Fazal. The agents intensively monitor his life, including his wife (played by Wamiqa Gabbi). As the crisis unfolds, the trailer hints at even more hidden secrets.

Sharing the trailer on X, Netflix India wrote in the caption:

More Details

The Netflix film reunites Tabu with the director, following their collaboration after “Maqbool” (2003) and “Haider” (2014). During Netflix’s Films Day event, Vishal had revealed that he flipped the gender of the protagonist, originally a male character in Bhushan’s 2012 book, because he didn’t find it “exciting” enough. “The film is based on Amar Bhushan’s espionage novel ‘Escape to Nowhere,’ the character was male but it was not that exciting for me. When I thought of Tabu, the excitement was more, and I changed the gender of the character. I found a reason to work with Tabu, and I got that,” he said.

“Khufiya” will be available for streaming on Netflix starting from October 5th.
