This year was tough to cross on will be an understatement by all means. With the pandemic, lockdown, travel restrictions, no street food, no street shopping and no hanging out with friends, there wasn’t much that 2020 didn’t’ rob us of.
Lest we forget there were good things as well in 2020. We read a lot, reconnected with a lot of old friends, worked really hard and also entertained ourselves a lot. One such source of entertainment was social media where the amazing content creators, YouTubers, celebrities and other social media influencers helped us destress.
A big thanks to all of them. Before we end the year, let’s have a look at the ones who had the biggest influence on our lives.
CarryMinati
This 21-year-old YouTuber, gamer and rapper from Faridabad known famously by his stage known CarryMinati is none other than Ajey Nagar. School/college dropouts getting successful by following their passion has become a phenomenon now and Ajey is another shining example of the same.
He was just 10 when he started making videos and as time passed he decided to quit school and make a profession out of video blogging. He later completed schooling via long-distance learning. In 2020, his video “YouTube Vs TikTok – The End” was the highest-liked non-music video on YouTube.
However, YouTube decided to remove it from his channel and fans of Nagar started making assumptions regarding the takedown of the video. Later one more video titled “STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS | YOUTUBE VS TIK TOK: THE END” was out by CarryMinati which received much wider support and love.
He has 27.6M subscribers in his channel CarryMinati and 8.27M subscribers in his other channel named CarryisLive where he uploads his gaming videos and live streams.
The roast king was and still on fire and here’s a piece of great news to his fans – he will soon make his Bollywood debut in Ajay Devgan’s Mayday playing the role of a social media sensation!
Ashish Chanchlani
This 27-year-old Youtuber has been trending on various social media platforms because of his vines that are so hilarious and can make you get addicted to his channel. Ashish Chanchlani, AKA Ashu, wanted to be an actor ever since he turned 9.
His dad owned a single-screen theatre and as he grew up watching Bollywood movies, he found himself getting more and more interested in acting with every passing year.
He looks up to the Khiladi of Bollywood that is Akshay Kumar as his inspiration for acting. He got enrolled in Datta Meghe College of Engineering to pursue a career as a Civil Engineer but when he started sharing his videos on several social media platforms he got the idea to start his own YouTube channel.
Later he left college to focus on the YouTube channel which he created in 2014. We often get to see many celebrities like Shahid Kapoor and Kartik Aryan making an appearance in his videos to promote their upcoming movies.
Ashish also went to acting school to improve his skills in acting and made his debut in 2016 with the show Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya. His first video on YouTube was titled “How to annoy people who say Tu Mere Baap Ko Janta Nahi Hai” which went viral.
He has 22.8M subscribers to date. His latest tweet giving a hint of him entering the Bigg Boss house, made fans think that he’ll be actually entering the famous show but turns out that he made a video on the show which went very viral making fans laugh hard with his and his team’s funny acting.
Amit Bhadana
Adding the last YouTuber to our list but the top 3rd Youtuber in India is Amit Bhadana who is famous for his vines and comedy. The 26-year old YouTuber from Delhi saw a huge fan following supporting him in 2020 and this year was surely lucky for him.
The Youtuber was the first individual YouTuber to receive 20 million subscribers in India. His video on the song by Adele “Hello” went viral giving a huge boost up to his channel. Later his dub on Eminem video was one of the first videos that got millions of likes on his channel. The Youtuber currently has 22.1M subscribers to his channel having 82 videos posted.
The prankster completed his law graduation from the University of Delhi and currently rocks YouTube and if you are having a bad day then his channel is the right stop you can make! He will be collaborating with famous rapper/singer Badshah to make their upcoming song “Aatmvishvas”.
Virat Kohli
The 32-year-old Indian cricketer and the captain of the Indian national team is the highest followed Indian Instagrammer in India having 84.3M followers. He is one of the best contemporary batsmen in the world with no doubts leading him to have a huge fan following. In one of the interviews, his dad opened up that Virat was always passionate about cricket and started swinging bats at age of 3.
He was a part of West Delhi Cricket Academy when he turned 9 and with years of hard training, he’s the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world. The famous 33-year-old Indian actress and singer has been in the lead in the industry and now is one of the most followed Instagrammer with 57.2M followers. Shraddha Kapoor has always been appreciated for her awesome fashion sense and cuteness making her so renowned. The daughter of Shakti Kapoor was firstly seen playing a brief role in Teen Patti and landed a leading role later in the drama Luv Ka End. But the film that made her famous was Aashiqui 2 as people started noticing her after that.
