The winner list of Dadasaheb Phalke Award, held for a long time due to the Covid-19 epidemic, has come out. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has won the ‘Best Actress’ award for her strong performance in her film ‘Chhapaak’. The official Instagram account of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival has announced this news. Chhapaak was a truly amazing movie for which Deepika deserves this award.
Among other actresses who also won the prestigious award was Kiara Advani who won the ‘Critic’s Best Actress’ award and Sushmita Sen who won ‘Best Actress-Web Series’. Akshay Kumar bagged the ‘Best Actor’ award for his acclaimed performance in the movie ‘Laxmii’.
What is the movie about?
This movie about an acid attack survivor blew up as soon as it was released. Deepika Padukone, who appeared in the lead role in the film, also made her debut as a producer with this film. The movie was directed by Meghna Gulzar.
The film is based on a real-life acid attack Survivor Lakshmi, who was attacked at the age of 15 by an alleged lover in 2005. Lakshmi had to undergo several surgeries. Later, she took on the task of helping acid attack survivors and promoted campaigns to prevent such attacks.
Meanwhile, on the work front, she will be seen in Shakun Batra’s hitherto untitled romantic drama film opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey. Along with this, Deepika Padukone will also produce and star in the remake of the American comedy film “The Intern” and will appear alongside Prabhas in the Pan-India film starring Nag Ashwin.
She started shooting for YRF’s next project Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan in Nov 2020 and is also set to star in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter alongside Hrithik Roshan which is scheduled for release in September 2022.
A well-deserved award for a performance that I would like to call Deepika’s best to date. We hope we’ll get to see her talent a lot more in the future. What do you think about the movie? Do let us know in the comments below.
