Bollywood celebs whose siblings didn’t make it big

1. Shamita Shetty & Shilpa Shetty

Shamita Shetty had a dream debut in Yash Raj’s multi-starer movie “Mohabbatein (2000)” which went on to be the 2nd biggest blockbuster of the year, but her career couldn’t skyrocket after that. She worked in a few movies including “Fareb (2004)”, “Zeher (2005)” but couldn’t get as much success.

Shilpa Shetty, on the other hand, is an immensely popular actress even if she never had many hits to support.

2. Siddhanth Kapoor & Shraddha Kapoor

Yes, Shraddha Kapoor has an elder brother Siddhanth Kapoor who made his Bollywood debut in “Shootout at Wadala (2013)”. Although his younger sister is an established star of Bollywood currently with super hit movies like “Aashiqui 2 (2013)”, “ABCD 2 (2015)”, “Baaghi (2016)”, “Chhichhore (2019)”, Siddhanth Kapoor career has been quite the opposite.

After his debut movie which failed to leave a mark, he went totally unnoticed in movies like “Ugly (2014)”, “Jazbaa (2015)”, “Paltan (2018)”. His last appearance was in the movie “Bhoot – Part One (2020)”.

3. Rahul Khanna & Akshaye Khanna

Rahul Khanna debuted alongside Amir Khan in “1947 Earth (1999)” which was a box-office disaster but received the “Filmfare Best Male Debut Award” for his performance but after that, he faded and anyone hardly got to see him in films. His last know role was in the film “Wake up Sid (2009)” alongside Ranbir Kapoor.

Akshaye Khanna’s name is not among those few superstars category but he had a really satisfying career with a dozen hits under his name like “Border (1997)”, “Taal (1999)”, “Dil Chahta Hai (2001)”.

4. Tanisha Mukerjee & Kajol

I don’t think Kajol needs any introduction as she is one of the most successful actresses with many memorable performances like “DDLJ (1994)”, “Gupt (1997)”, “K2H2 (1998)”, “K3G (2001)” and has worked with the biggest people in Bollywood.

But her sister Tanisha’s career never took off as her debut movie “Sssshhh… (2003)” was a big flop and after that, she got just a handful of roles with a solo hit, “Sarkar (2005)”.

5. Luv Sinha & Sonakshi Sinha

Out of all the underperforming siblings, Luv Sinha is right at the top of the list and the least known artist. The reason being, he has only two movies under his belt and that too when he debuted in the 2010 movie “Sadiyaan” which tanked at the box office and the same year Sonakshi Sinha debuted with “Dabangg” which was a blockbuster.

After 2010 Luv Sinha’s only other movie is “Paltan (2018), another box office failure, but contrarily, Sonakshi Sinha had a satisfactory career with super hits like “Rowdy Rathore (2012)”, “Dabangg 2 (2012)”, “Holiday (2014)” and quite recently “Mission Mangal (2019)”.

6. Uday Chopra & Aditya Chopra

Like Shamita Shetty, Uday Chopra also made the same dream debut with the Movie “Mohabbatein” but after that, the only bit of appreciation that he got was for his role in the Dhoom series with “Dhoom (2006)”, “Dhoom 2 (2006)” and “Dhoom 3 (2013)” and all being under his home banner Yash Raj.

While his brother Aditya who chooses to direct/produce is a well know name and has given Bollywood some remarkable movies like “DDLJ (1995)”, “Hum Tum (2004)”, “Chak De! India (2007)”, “Ek Tha Tiger (2012)” to be a few.

7. Rinke Khanna & Twinkle Khanna

People hardly know who Rinke Khanna is as she has never appeared as a lead actress in any of the 8 or 9 movies she has done in her career apart from her debut movie “Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi (1999)” which was a box-office failure.

Whereas Twinkle Khanna had a small and very fruitful career with movies that you can count on your fingers. Some of those being “Barsaat (1995)”, “Baadshah (1999)”, “Jodi No.1 (2001)”.

8. Soha Ali Khan and Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan had a decent start of his career with a series of good roles but even then he wasn’t able to establish himself as a solo hit star until “Hum Tum (2004)”. Since then has made his name among some of the top stars in Bollywood with films like “Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007)”, “Race (2008)”, “Love Aaj Kal (2009)”

And like his brother, Soha Ali Khan’s career also had a fair start with her debut movie “Dil Maange More (2004)”, “Rang De Basanti (2006)”, “99 (2009)”. But contrary to her brother who grew stronger and stronger with every movie, her career graph went on declining and since “99” she never was a part of any hit movie which sums up the whole story.

9. Faisal Khan & Amir Khan

Mr. perfectionist, the Superstar Amir Khan’s stardom is at another level and to match him is quite literally impossible for other big superstars to let alone his brother Faisal Khan who debuted in the movie “Madhosh (1994)” which was a big box-office failure.

Even “Mela (2000)” a movie with his brother Amir Khan could not do his career any good as apart from that it is very difficult to recall any of his movies.

10. Amrita Arora & Malaika Arora

Amrita Arora, unlike her sister, grabbed a few leading roles in the movies with her Bollywood debut being “Kitne Door Kitne Paas (2002)” which was not successful critically and financially. Her first successful movie was the multi-starrer action comedy, Awara Paagal Deewana (2002) but a series of flops after that sealed her career with her last move being “Kambakkht Ishq (2009)”.

When it comes to acting Malaika Arora isn’t much popular but still a very famous Bollywood celebrity thanks to a chain of good item numbers starting with “Chaiyya Chaiyya, Dil Se… (1998)”, “Kaal (2005)”, “Munni Badnaam Hui, Dabangg (2010)” to name a few.
