World’s Most Polluted Cities 2022: Know the Indian cities in the top spots on the Global list.

It is no secret that pollution levels in many Indian cities have reached near-toxic levels as a result of climate change, human activities, and other factors. According to a recent study, some of India’s most developed cities are also among the most polluted in the world. let’s explore more about it!

World’s Most Polluted Cities

According to the Air Quality and Health in Cities report, released last week by the US-based Health Effects Institute, India’s capital city, New Delhi, is the most polluted city in the world, with West Bengal’s Kolkata coming in second.

According to the HEI report, urban cities like Delhi and Kolkata have higher levels of pollution due to increased population, which is caused by increased job opportunities and better lifestyles provided by developing infrastructure. According to the report, while Delhi and Kolkata were first and second on the list, Kano, Nigeria, took third place, and Lima, Peru, took fourth place. Mumbai, Maharashtra, was also included on the list.

The institute conducted an analysis of the world’s most polluted cities based on the amount of two of the most harmful pollutants in the atmosphere – fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO 2).

The report by the Health Effects Institute is assembled on the basis of the health impacts caused by the pollutants found in the environment in 7,239 cities from 2010 to 2019.
