What did the Gadar 2 director do about Ameesha Patel’s weak acting?

Director Anil Sharma opened up about his relationship with actor Ameesha Patel, who starred in his films “Gadar” and its sequel. He mentioned that while Ameesha came from a wealthy background, she sometimes displayed an attitude, though she was generally kind-hearted. He acknowledged that when he initially cast her in “Gadar,” she lacked strong acting skills and needed months of training to improve. Despite their differences, Ameesha’s performance improved over time, contributing to the success of both films headlined by Sunny Deol.

What did the Gadar 2 director do about Ameesha Patel’s weak acting?

Ameesha had a promising beginning in the film industry with consecutive hit films, “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai” and “Gadar.” Prior to the release of “Gadar 2,” she generated controversy by stating that she hadn’t received full payment for her role. Anil Sharma, speaking to Bollywood Hungama, mentioned that an actor’s payment isn’t within his control. He expressed his continued positive perception of Ameesha as a kind individual, despite the challenges they’ve faced together.

He said, “Mera rishta kabhi kissi ke saath kharab nahi hota. Tu-tu-main-main bhi hui, theek bhi ho gayi. Ameesha ji ka nature aise hi hai. Pichli Gadar ke dauraan unse meeting ke dauraan tu-tu-main-main ho gayi thi. Woh bade ghar ki bitiya hain, unke mizaaj thode bade hain, magar dil ki buri nahi hain, dil ki achi hain. Bade ghar ki beti jo hoti hai kabhi kabhi tunakmizaaji aa jaati hai. Hum log chote ghar ke log hain. Hum log pyaar mohabbat se rehte hain. Woh bhi rehti hain, but thoda sa attitude, ek adaa hai unme jo kabhi kabhi tedhi-medhi ho jaati hai, lekin insaan achi hain (I have good relations with everybody. I’ve had my disagreements with her, but that’s her nature. We had a disagreement when we first met for the first film. But she comes from a big family, and she carries that attitude around with her. I’m a simple person, I believe in living with love. She does, too, but sometimes her attitude gets in the way. But she is a kind person otherwise).”

The director also acknowledged that Ameesha had limited acting skills when he cast her in “Gadar,” but her appearance was fitting for the role of Sakeena. He mentioned, “For Sakeena, I wanted an actor with a face like the moon. But she was weak at acting. Another girl we’d shortlisted was a better actor, but Ameesha had the built-in personality of someone from an important family. I knew we would have to train her, and she agreed to undergo training for six months. She’d come to me for four or five hours, and somehow, I ingrained Sakeena’s personality in her, to the point that she is still inseparable from that character.”

Just like the first Gadar, which was a massive success in 2001, Gadar 2 has surpassed all predictions to become one of the biggest triumphs in the annals of Indian cinema. The movie has raked in over Rs 600 crore globally, and is setting its sights on surpassing Pathaan to become the highest-grossing Hindi-language film in India’s history. Like this post?
