Tim Hortons makes its India debut, to rival Starbucks and Costa Coffee
Tim Hortons, a popular Canadian coffee shop, has announced its entry into the Indian market. In the next five years, the company intends to open approximately 250 stores across the country. Let’s see what they have in store for us!
About Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons is Canada’s largest QSR operator, and to bring the brand to India, it has partnered with AG Café, a joint venture company owned by Apparel Group and Gateway Partners. AG Cafe owns Tim Hortons’ master franchise rights in India, Bangladesh, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Tim Hortons Launch In India
On the day of Raksha Bandhan, it opens its first two stores in India. The brand opened one store in New Delhi’s Select Citywalk Mall and another in Gurgaon’s DLF CyberHub. Tim Hortons’ entry into India is expected to pit it against leading coffee chain brands such as Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. The brand’s first restaurant is expected to open in June or July.
It was stated that once the Delhi branch opens, the next stores will open in Punjab as well. Gurnaney stated that the goal is to build at least 120 branches in the next three years, then expand to 250-300 stores after another two years. Tim Horton’s CEO stated that the company’s new coffee chain in India will create new jobs for locals while also directly benefiting the country’s hospitality sector.
