Not every sports person retires after playing the game, some go on to join different services to serve the country. While they no longer garner the glory of public attention and fame as earlier, all these ex-sportsmen continue to contribute to the community and the nation. In times as stressful as today we need more such people who have the will power and determination to win over any adversity and the stamina to stand the pressure under these testing times.

Joginder Sharma
Who can forget Joginder Sharma from the finals of the 2007 World T20 tournament? Though he was not seen playing for India again as he joined the police force as DSP. Most recently he has been actively guarding the streets during the ongoing lockdown
Akhil Kumar
Anyone who follows boxing should be able to recognize the poster boy Akhil Kumar. He is a gold medalist at the 2006 CWG Melbourne. He joined as ACP Gurugram post his retirement. Currently, he is active to ensure the lockdown in his area.
Jitender Kumar
The Haryana boxer also represented India in CWG 2006 and won a Bronze medal. He also went onto represent the Indian team in the 2008 Beijing Olympics with a broken jaw. Currently, Jitender is serving as DSP in Rewari and is giving all he has to successfully defeat COVID 19.
Ajay Thakur
A Padma Shri and Arjuna Award winner in 2019 Ajay was one of the best raiders in the Indian Kabaddi team. He has played vital roles to get India to win many battles. Former India captain has now joined the Indian Police force as DSP and is currently posted in Bilaspur during COVID 19 lockdown. Source: Instagram
Sandeep Singh
The story of Sandeep Singh is no less than a miracle and inspiration. The hockey champion went onto make a comeback, while many thought he wouldn’t be able to make it. It took him more than a year to recover from the injury. After serving the police force today he is heading the sports ministry in Haryana and actively taking part to ensure complete lockdown.
