Punjabi version of “Tumse na ho payega!“. This phrase is so very commonly used by the elders when they see the younger ones not able to complete a task to their expectations.
Yeah! Who Cares
A favorite with gossipers. After sharing all the gossips, they tend to end each conversation with “Sanu Ki” meaning “Let it be, how does it concern us”. It is used in other contexts as well to show a lack of concern towards the specific topic or person.
Do Your Best!
This term is quite common nowadays even with non-Punjabis. The colloquial meaning is “come on” or “go for it”, however, it originated as a war cry out for Sikhs.
Ultimate Irony
One of the most popular phrases used by Punjabi fathers to call out their son. The funny part is that it literally means “Son of a Donkey” so the father calls himself a donkey when he uses this phrase. Although the widely accepted usage is that of a funny way to call someone a dumbass.
Get Lost!
We got one from Punjabi Dads, this one is from Punjabi Moms. A very common phrase that we hear every now and then meaning “to get lost.” There are variations like Duffa Ho Aethon meaning “Get lost from here” or Duffa Ho Foran meaning ‘Get lost immediately”
