Can you still play BGMI in India?

The Battlegrounds Mobile India ban has surprised many gamers. BGMl, one of the most popular online battle-royale games, mysteriously vanished from Google PlayStore and Apple App Store in the late hours of July 28. This removed all traces of BGMI from both app stores, preventing users from downloading it on their devices. However, shortly after the BGMI app was removed from the Play Store, Google officially stated that the removal was the result of a direct government order. Shocking right? Why BGMI Is Banned In India?

BGMI is the most popular of the Chinese apps that have been relaunched and rebranded with the same features as PUBG and have managed to avoid scrutiny. BGMI claims to have resolved the issues that the government had with PUBG Mobile, but some claim that nothing has changed and that PUBG Mobile has simply been renamed BGMI in India.

Yes, the app store listing for the game has been removed. The game’s server is still active, at least for the time being, and players who have the game installed on their smartphone can play whenever they want.

Can you download the game?

As previously stated, BCMI has been removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This means that the game cannot be downloaded from the respective app stores. With the BCMI 2.0 update, however, the game’s developer Krafton began offering APK files from its official website. As a result, Android users can still download the APK file and install the game on their devices.

Meanwhile, the developer of BGMI, Krafton confirmed the ban of BGMI in India saying, “We are clarifying how BGMI was removed from Google Play Store and the App store and will let you know once we get specific information.” However, a Reuters report hints that the removal of the BGMI in India is the same as the ban of PUBG: Mobile back in 2020 along with a host of other Chinese apps, and Garena Free Fire in early 2022, that is the data sharing issue with China.
