Apple Watch Series 8 ‘Pro’ May Get Redesigned Look To Miss Out On Flat Sides

A few months ago in his latest Powen On newsletter,  Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that he believes 2022 will be the biggest year in the history of the Apple Watch. According to the analyst, Apple will release three new smartwatches this year: the Apple Series 8, an upgraded Apple Watch SE, and an Apple Watch ‘Pro’ aimed at extreme sports. Gurman believes that the upcoming high-end variant of the Apple Watch Series 8 will be the first redesigned smartwatch from Apple in years.

About The Watch

According to the report, the device will get a new titanium casing but will not have the long-rumoured squared-off look. According to Gurman, the high-end Apple Watch model will be “a good bit bigger” than current models and “may only appeal to a subset of customers.” The upcoming smartwatch is expected to have a 7% larger display than the current model. Aside from that, the smartwatch is expected to have a longer battery life, possibly lasting multiple days on a single charge, thanks to the new Low Power Mode.

In terms of features, the Apple Watch Series 8 is said to include a body-temperature sensor that can detect fever or other abnormalities in the user’s body temperature. The rugged edition of the Apple Watch Series 8 is said to be designed for athletes who use the device in harsh environments. This variant is expected to include a few extra features in addition to the rugged casing.

In terms of other sensors, Gurman believes that nothing has changed and that we will see blood pressure technology in 2025, with the “glucose feature not being ready until nearer the end of the decade.” Gurman mentions that “the upcoming Apple Watch release is shaping up to be one of the company’s more exciting product launches this year.”
