Profanities in movies are not a very old invention but in the 21st century, it is quite in fashion, be it Bollywood or movies of other counties. Filmmakers usually use abusive language that we all might have heard of in our surroundings to make a film look more realistic. While doing so, they end up creating foul-mouthed movie characters that are so badass that they become more famous than the movie itself.

Here’s a shortlist of some of the most abusive characters, that became so famous that their swearing contributed to the success of the movie.

Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) – Pulp Fiction

Top of the list is Jules Winnfield played by none other than Samuel L. Jackson who can be called the king in the curse word category with the living example being the movie Pulp Fiction.

His audacity, those F-bombs and his performance in the movie was won over by both viewers and critics.

Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpayee) – Gangs of Wasseypur

Now is our very own Sardar Khan from a groundbreaking movie of this genre, Gangs of Wasseypur. Every character in this movie is foul-mouthed so you can imagine the number of bad words that would have been used in the movie.

Manoj Bajpayee, a marvelous actor that he is, has portrayed the character flawlessly. He kills, he jokes, he abuses then again kills and the cycle continues.

Faizal Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) – Gangs of Wasseypur

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who played Faizal, son of Sardar Khan, carried forward the legacy of Sardar Khan in the sequel of the movie, literally. He had a short role in the first part of the movie but displayed his brilliant acting skills in the second part.

Those who have not seen the movie also know his dialogue “Baap ka, bhai ka, dada ka, sabka badla lega re tera Faizal”.

Sultan Qureshi (Pankaj Tripathi) – Gangs of Wasseypur

Pankaj Tripathi is known to bring the characters alive on the silver screen. Even though he wasn’t as famous before ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, he was an integral part of both movies of the franchise. His verbal abuse in the movie was as brutal as he was with the gun.

Wade Wilson / Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) – Deadpool

Now a glimpse at the Hollywood. Deadpool, what can we say about this hilarious character? A superhero who brings extreme violence to the mainstream in a way that’s never been so funny. No one could have ever thought of a superhero who is far from a role model and the reason is not only the violence but also his mouth.

Somayajulu (Vijay Raaz) – Delhi Belly

Vijay Raaz’s character in Delhi Belly made the movie all the more hilarious and his delivery of a don that was abusive and at the same time funny was simply amazing.

Vijay is a very gifted actor and plays whatever roles he is offered with all the ease and if you offer him such a role he will surely going to nail every inch of it.

Warden Norton (Bob Gunton) – The Shawshank Redemption

Warden Norton, from the cult classic movie The Shawshank Redemption, was the ruthless overseer of the Shawshank State Penitentiary who is power-hungry and cruel to the prisoners.

Often, in the movie, he was seen swearing at the prisoners especially Andy Dufresne. He is undoubtedly one of the most hated characters in the No.1 rated movie on IMDB.

Pandey Ji (Sunny Deol) – Mohalla Assi

Mohalla Assi a film that was surrounded by a lot of controversies and was stayed by a Delhi court for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. It was to release in the year 2015 but eventually hit the theaters in 2018.

Sunny Deol played the lead role of Sanskrit teacher and an orthodox religious priest, thus the name Pandit Ji. He even after being a Pandit was seen using a lot of curse words in the movie. His new avatar was liked by a lot of people.

Meera Gaiti (Rani Mukerji) – No One Killed Jessica

The film based on Jessica Lall, a Delhi-established model, who was shot dead by the son of a well-known politician. It’s a female-centric film starring Rani Mukerji, who was seen using curse words across the movie.

Tommy Singh (Shahid Kapoor) – Udta Punjab

Tommy Singh, the character played by Shahid Kapoor, is a very successful musician and singer who indulges in uncontrollable consumption of cocaine.

He was seen in the movie abusing both verbally and physically whoever comes in his way. A very famous dialogue in the movie is “Drugs Di Maa Di!”.

Krishna Verma (Vidya Balan) – Ishqiya

Another movie in which most of the characters were seen abusing each other. But the part played by Vidya Balan was very impressive. She seduces and abuses both the male leads of the movie Shah and Warsi until they both fall for her.
