5 day DIY skincare challenge!

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder as much as it lies in the skin of the person in question. It’s been months of sitting idle/working from home and we’ve all the time in the world but nowhere to go. Want to make the best out of it? Take this 5-day lockdown skincare challenge! Wait, worried about the products?

Don’t worry, we feel you! This challenge only includes common household essentials! A bonus? We’ve also included the recipes! So skincare enthusiasts.. ready for a glowing week? 3..2..1.. here goes the challenge!

Monday:

Exfoliating/Scrubbing day!

Coz exfoliation is the best key to the door of glow! Also, start with this step even if you’re not actually starting on any Monday! The scrubs? Here they are:

1. The coffee scrub

Ingredients:

1. Coffee (2tbsp)  – Rich in antioxidants and helps in the prevention of premature ageing!

2. Brown sugar (1 tbsp) – Gentle Exfoliator

3. Olive oil (3 tbsp) – Contains fatty acids to moisturize and nourish the skin.

2. Oatmeal Scrub

Did you know oatmeal could do wonders too? If you didn’t already, treat yourself to this scrub and see for yourself!

Ingredients:

1. Oatmeal(1 tbsp) – Absorbs excess oil and cleanses the skin.

2. Brown sugar (1 tbsp)

3. Argan oil (2 tbsp) – Hydrates skin and prevents premature ageing.

Choose either of the masks and mix the ingredients and you’re good to go! Apply with gentle circular motions and leave on for 5 minutes before rinsing. Simple, wasn’t it?

Tuesday

Nourishing day

Honey- Milk Mask

Ingredients:

1. Honey(1 tbsp)- Has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Also helps to moisturize skin.

2. Cow’s Milk (2-3 tbsp)- Contains lactic acid that helps to clean deep into pores.

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and apply it layer after layer. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Lo and behold! Your skin nourished for the week!

Wednesday

Hydrating Day

Banana- Honey Mask

Ingredients:

1. 1 full Banana (ripe) – Moisturizes and hydrates skin.

2. Honey ( 2tbsp)

Mix the honey with 1 mashed banana in a bowl and apply after cleansing face with lukewarm water. Leave on for 20 mins before rinsing off with lukewarm water. Once done, get ready to welcome younger- looking soft and supple skin!

Thursday

Glow mask day

Honey-Lemon Mask

Ingredients:

1. Honey( 1tbsp)

2. Freshly squeezed lemon juice (1/2 tbsp) – Helps in clearing skin and removing tan.

No, honey can never be extra when it comes skincare! Mix the ingredients in a bowl and apply to cleansed skin. Leave on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. You’ll be amazed to see the instant lasting glow!

Friday

Clay mask day

So it’s the fifth and final day of the challenge! Your skin must be feeling amazing already but let’s conclude it on a caring note because you know, you can never do ‘Too much’ skincare!

Bentonite Clay Mask

Ingredients:

1. Bentonite Clay ( 1tbsp) – Rovides oxygen, helps to remove toxins and has alkalizing effects.

2. Yoghurt (1 tbsp) – Helps to tighten pores, exfoliate skin and has antibacterial properties.

Mix the clay with the yoghurt ( Keep away metals from the clay) and apply the mixture to cleansed face. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and wash away with lukewarm water.

Fuller’s Earth Mask

Ingredients:

1. Fuller’s Earth/ Multani Mitti ( 2tbsp) – Brightens and clears skin

2. Rosewater ( 1 tbsp)

3. Lemon Juice (1/2 tbsp)

Mix the ingredients and apply to cleansed face. Wash off with lukewarm water when dry! Congratulations on completing the challenge!!
