The rags-to-riches story of Dharmesh Sir

He is popularly known as Dharmesh Sir. He is one of the Most Popular Dancers, choreographers in India. He has also acted in a number of Bollywood movies.

Dharmesh was born on 31 October 1983 in Baroda, Gujarat, India. He belongs to an economically weak family. His father used to run the tea-stall and his mother was a housewife.

“I even used to run a ‘Misal Pav’ stall as I was more into dancing than studies. Before starting my stall, I was working as a peon. I left the job because they used to leave me at 9 p.m., but my dance classes used to start at 6 p.m. I told my family that I’ll get money for them, but only when I’ll get free from my job at 6 p.m.,” Dharmesh Sir has shared.

As a child, Dharmesh learned dancing watching Bollywood songs. He won his first dance competition when he was in Std VI. Dharmesh moved to Mumbai to follow his dream to become a background dancer. India’s first dance show Boogie Woogie came his way by chance. He went on to win Boogie Woogie.

However, this didn’t end his struggle. He assisted his brother, who is a choreographer, and used to do odd jobs to make the ends meet.

His inspiration for dance is Remo D’Souza, according to his remarks in the DID audition, he says, “Remo Sir is also a mindblowing dancer. Whenever I meet him, it’s the only dance that we discuss. He’s a person with such wonderful dance techniques that one is left simply wondering ‘Ki kya idea hai bhai, yeh step to dhoom macha dega”

His career zoomed after ‘Dance India Dance (season 2)’ audition in January 2009. He was selected for the show and eventually made his way to the top to end the competition as a runner-up.

He, later, participated in Dance India Dance Li’l Masters (as a skipper), and Dance Ke Superstars, all of which aired on Zee TV. After his experience in these shows, he was hired by Farah Khan to choreograph the movie Tees Maar Khan.

He started his movie career with ABCD (Any Body Can Dance) in 2012. Then in 2015, he worked in ABCD2 (Any Body Can Dance 2), in 2016 Banjo, in 2018 Nawabzaade, and in 2020 Street Dancer

With a net worth of $2 Million, he is one of the richest Indian dancers who was born in India. He also runs a dance academy by the name of D’virus Dance Academy in Baroda (Vadodara).

There is no doubt that Dharmesh Sir is ruling hearts around the world. In his professional life, he has achieved a lot. Dharmesh Yelande is not married yet but he is dating a German model Breshna Khan.

They both have been together for more than 5 years and have never shied away from their relationship status. Their fans must be eagerly waiting for them to get married.
