Who’s Binod and why did his name trend?

It takes a celebrity or a real badass person for their name to trend across different social media, but it’s a lot different for ‘Binod’. What are the odds that an unknown youtube user will become the trending topic overnight with even celebrities and brands tweeting on the topic? Very very low. Unless its Binod.

On July 15, 2020 a YouTube channel ‘Slayy Point’, owned by youtubers Abhyudaya and Gautami, posted a video titled “Why Indian Comments Section is Garbage (BINOD)” that showcased the most irrelevant, meaningless and illogical comments made under various videos on their channel. The video listed a number of odd comments left by youtube users but the highlight of the video was a user named ‘Binod Tharu’ who just left his name as a comment against one of the videos. This baffled, and amused, other youtube users and soon the word (Binod) spread to other social media.
